Level Flowchart

Not sure what level your child should be in? To help determine your child's level, move through the questions below.

  • Will you be entering the pool with your child? If yes, they'll be in WaterBabies/WaterTots
  • Is your child under 6 years old and this is the first time in lessons by themselves? If yes, they will likely go into Sea Turtle
  • Can your child put their face underwater comfortably? If yes, Salamander may be for them.
  • Can your child float on their front and back without assistance? If yes, Sunfish is their level.
  • Can your child glide and swim on their front and back? If they're under 6 years of age, Crocodile may suit them.
  • If your young child can swim for 5 metres on their front and back, they will register in Whale until they turn 6.

Is your child 6 years or older? If so, the Red Cross Swim Kids program is for them. In the lower levels, they'll work on the same skills as the Pre-School levels, with a focus on the endurance they are capable of at their age.
