Pedalheads™ Bike Camp for Kids is looking for instructors for our March Break programs in Vancouver Point Grey and North Vancouver. Pedalheads™ is an 8-level program to teach kids to ride their bikes safely and skillfully on streets and trails.This is the perfect job for those who would like to gain experience working with children, teachers, early childhood education students, as well as those interested in human kinetics/or sports and recreation management.
It’s also a great way to spend the week outside riding your bike!
You don't need to be an expert cyclist – just love working with kids, being active and working outside.
Wage range is $9.62 - $12.62 depending on relevant experience.
Camp dates: March 12-16 (North Van only) & March 19-23 (Point Grey and North Van) Hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm Monday-Friday (must commit to a full week)
Qualifications:
- Be at least 17 years of age by December 31st, 2012
- Have experience teaching or coaching young children
- Be energetic, creative, motivated
- Hold a current first aid certificate

SWIM PROGRAM MANAGER
Hours
35-40 hours per week
This job will involve working evening shifts and weekend shifts in Fall/Winter/Spring. Summer season is Monday-Friday. Primary work location is the pool, with several hours/week at Oak St. Head Office.
*The pool is closed for maintenance in December and June. During that time, manager can take their 3 weeks paid vacation and work 1 week of paid prep time. The other 4 weeks can be taken as unpaid leave, or paid time working on special projects for the company.
Start Date
March 2012 – 1 year contract with potential for renewal
Rate of Pay
$19.00 - $22.00 hourly (commensurate with experience) plus 3 weeks paid vacation/year and competitive benefits package
Responsibilities:
- act as the primary supervisor for Atlantis Programs swimming lessons
- oversee daily operation of lessons, pool, and swim staff
- supervise, evaluate, and train swimming instructors and volunteers
- manage the swim staff including scheduling, recruiting, interviewing, hiring
- liaise with the head office and HR manager
- provide customer service to parents of the swimmers
Qualifications:
- 5 years previous related experience including 2 years in a supervisory role of young adults in an aquatics or recreation setting
- thorough knowledge of the Red Cross Water Safety program
- strong interpersonal skills with children, youth, and adults
- mature and dynamic as a leader
- experience and competence as a trainer
- positive and engaging personality
- ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- willingness to grow in a position within our expanding organization
- desire to learn and develop skills and take initiative to see our program grow
Certifications Required
- Current NLS award
- Current Red Cross WSI award
- Current first aid and CPR-C certificate
- More advanced aquatics leadership awards such as Lifesaving Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, First Aid Instructor awards are considered an asset
- A University degree or college diploma, preferably in physical education or business (recommended but not required)

Swimming Instructors
Atlantis Swim Programs is looking for experienced, friendly and energetic swimming instructors to teach the Red Cross Pre-School/Swim Kids Program. We offer small classes of 4-6 kids in a small warm water pool. We are now accepting resumes for 2012.

Pedalheads™ is now looking for Bike Camp site supervisors for the 2012 season.
Duties:
Supervisors are responsible for managing all programs and activities at their site. This includes public relations, safety, community relations and administration.
Supervisors oversee up to 30 bike instructors and 20 volunteers, (site dependant) they ensure that the bike camps levels, skills, and standards are adhered
to and that every participant has a positive and rewarding experience at Pedalheads.
Qualifications:
We prefer candidates who have teaching, physical education, or recreation degrees or diplomas. The positions suit teachers, Early Childhood Educators, or other professionals who have the summer off.
You must have extensive organizing and teaching experience with children of all ages, as well as supervisory experience with youth ages 13-24.
We are looking for mature and dynamic leaders who are organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.
Dates/Times:
Attendance at Supervisor Training in June is mandatory.
Camps run July - August / Monday to Friday 37-40 hours per week.
Rate of Pay:
$14.40-$17.20 per hour depending upon experience and education.
